Texas beat Texas State 59–7. BOA’s postgame package shows where the Longhorns dominated, what drove the margin and why the defense’s grade requires more context than the final score.

Texas’ 59–7 win over Texas State looked overwhelming on the scoreboard. The BOA postgame data mostly agrees — but the deeper numbers also show how Texas created the separation.

The offense was the clearest strength

Texas finished the game at 7.37 yards per play and 0.322 EPA per play, while scoring 6.56 points per drive.

Those are not just volume numbers. They point to an offense that consistently turned possessions into points and created enough explosive value to prevent Texas State from recovering once the margin started to grow.

The Longhorns also converted 73.3% of third downs and scored touchdowns or field goals on 85.7% of red-zone trips.

BOA gave the Texas offense an 87.1 game grade.

The passing game created most of the efficiency edge

Texas posted 0.673 passing EPA per play compared with -0.083 rushing EPA per play.

That split helps explain why Ryan Wingo, Cam Coleman and Arch Manning all landed in the top three of BOA’s Week 1 Player Performance grades.

The passing game was not merely productive. It was the most efficient part of the Texas offense.
